The 1973–1987 Chevrolet and GMC C10/C15 Pickup Trucks—known throughout the industry as the Squarebody—represent one of the most iconic truck platforms ever built. With bold styling, strong chassis engineering, and endless configurability, these trucks remain a favorite among collectors, builders, and daily drivers. Auto Metal Direct (AMD) offers the industry's most complete line of OE-style sheet metal, trim, and restoration components for every stage of your Squarebody build.

About the Squarebody (1973–1987)

Chevrolet introduced the third-generation C/K platform in 1973 with a radical departure from earlier rounded-body designs. The new look—defined by crisp edges, flat body lines, and larger glass openings—quickly earned the nickname “Squarebody.” This generation became the longest-running C/K architecture and included several important changes throughout its 15-year lifespan.

Although technically outside the pickup years, many Squarebody restorers cross-reference these parts:

  • 1987 Trucks = R/V designations only for chassis-cab and heavy-duty models.

  • 1988–1991 Blazer, Jimmy, and Suburban remained “Squarebody” even after pickups transitioned to the OBS GMT400.

  • Many body, frame, interior, and cooling system components interchange with 1973–1987 pickups.
