Our products range in size from small to large and require different shipping methods. We use FedEx to ship small to medium size parts. Large and/or heavy products will be shipped via truck freight. The trucking company used could vary. Expedited shipping options are available for additional charges - ask your salesperson for details. All shipping charges should be quoted at time of order although there may be times when we have to call you back to give you a price.
Simple Retail Shipping Charges (Internet Orders Only)
Retail customers who place their orders on our website with shipping addresses anywhere in the contiguous U.S. will have two simple shipping charges depending on items in their cart:
Truck Freight: Cost varies by region - If there is at least one or more item(s) in the cart that require(s) shipment via truck freight, the entire order will ship for a flat fee based on the delivery region. Truck freight deliveries require that a person be available to inspect and sign for the delivery. Free Freight on orders over $4,000.00
Ground Shipping: $9.95 + applicable oversize fees - If there are no items in the cart that require shipment via truck freight, the entire order will ship for $9.95 + applicable oversize fees. **Depending upon the quantity of items on your order and/or the order's overall weight, we may choose to send the entire order via truck freight. You will only be charged the $9.95 ground rate but you will still be responsible for making sure a person will be available at the delivery address to inspect and sign for the delivery. You will be notified via email or telephone call if this applies to your order.**
Important Truck Freight Shipping Information
Certain products must be delivered via truck freight due to size. Whether the item will be installed immediately or not, you MUST inspect the box for suspected damage. If there is reason to believe the product may be damaged based on the condition of the box you will need to open the box and inspect the product(s) and note the damage on the delivery ticket before the driver leaves. Failure to follow this procedure will result in loss of claim - see the Damages section for further details.
Damages and Shortages
Damages and shortages must be reported within 24 hours of receipt of merchandise. Your shipment is insured by the trucking company that makes the delivery – NOT by Auto Metal Direct. If you find your item(s) damaged, you MUST have the driver note the damage on the delivery receipt. If the damage is severe, please refuse delivery and call our office immediately - we will take care of the claim and send you a replacement. If you find the item damaged after you have signed and accepted the item and the damage was not noted on the delivery receipt, Auto Metal Direct will not be able to help you with a claim. By signing the delivery receipt, you are certifying that you have received your item(s) in good condition. If you ship to someone other than yourself, you must let them know to inspect the item(s) for damage. If they sign the delivery receipt certifying that the item was in good condition when it arrived and you find any damage after the fact, Auto Metal Direct will not be able to help you with a claim.
Important Glass Shipping Information
Due to the fragile nature of glass, in order to assure that you receive your product in tact, we have gone the extra mile in packaging. The following charges will be added to glass orders to cover the cost of the protective packaging and will be added to the actual shipping fee.
Windshield/Back Glass..........Add $35.00
Complete Glass Kit................Add $60.00
Most glass orders must be shipped truck freight due to size and weight restrictions. Please call us if you have any questions about shipping before placing your order.
Important International Shipping Information
Truck Freight: Auto Metal Direct, at this time, does not ship outside of the United States via truck freight. In order to receive a shipment from Auto Metal Direct outside of the United States, international customers must have a broker set up to receive a shipment at a border location, MUST supply all custom documentation necessary for their country, and arrange pickup at our facility. You may return any unused, undamaged, and resalable part in its original packaging for exchange, credit or refund up to 6 months after purchase. All orders, cancellations and returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee. All returns must have prior authorization before returning them to us. Shipping fees that are incurred from returning any part to us is your responsibility. Finally, if the return shipment is damaged in transit, you are responsible for filing the claim with the carrier.
All sales are final on discontinued / close out items. Returns will not be accepted on these parts.
The sheet metal you receive may have scratches, dings, small dents and other minor imperfections, which are considered normal sheet metal characteristics due to the nature of the product. AMD does not consider these minor imperfections as damaged. These items will be easily corrected during the filling, priming and sanding phase of your sheet metal installation. All sheet metal panels will require some sort of manipulation during installation. Test fit all parts before sanding, priming, or painting them. If we deem your parts defective, our responsibility is to replace the part, issue credit, or refund the original purchase price. We are not responsible for any paint or labor expenses. The credit or refund amount will not exceed the defective parts original purchase price.
Any items not available at the time the order is placed will be put on backorder. All backordered parts that ship after the original shipment will be subject to additional shipping fees. Backorders will not be shipped without your prior authorization. Please let us know if you do not wish to receive backorders.
